Sedona Adventure ToursSpring-Flow Verde River Rafting Adventures
The Verde River is spring fed and flows year around, even when it is hot and dry with little to no rain. This is why Sedona Adventure Tours can offer river experiences 12 months out of the year. Tubing in the summer is popular and a great, fun family activity. And very inexpensive too!
Floating with an escorted or independent trip down the Verde River in a Funyak (an inflated kayak) is a great way of experiencing the richness of the environment of northern Arizona. The Verde River is calm in most places and easy to navigate. In some spots you have to navigate mini-rapids, something we all love to do. And it can be thrilling too! Older kids love it. There is a season though that causes the river level to rise. It is not appropriate for individuals to float in a Funyaks as it takes greater skill to navigate the high, faster moving water. This rise is caused by the melting of the snow-pack in the lands above the Verde River, all the way to Flagstaff and the San Francisco mountains. Snow levels of 6 to 8 feet need to melt and the water can inundate the Verde River for a few weeks or more. This is usually in February, but as is the case in 2010 it is carrying into the later part of March. When the river is higher, Sedona Adventure Tours breaks out its 5 person rubber rafts and promotes an escorted tour down a fast moving and flooded Verde River. The pictures here show you the river in mid March of 2010. Note the budding of the Sycamores and other plants on the banks. So, why not take advantage of the increased flow of the Verde River and enjoy a rafting adventure. Call us for more information. Each raft holds 2 to 4 people plus the guide. Price: $85 per person (FAMILY SPECIAL: four or more persons) Price: $95 per person
